Rucker Landing – June 10, 2017

The Amherst County Batteau Day held at River’s Edge Park and the newly re-named Rucker’s Landing was a huge success. The day was beautiful. Vendors lined the paved park walk-way along the James River. Historical Re-enactors such as “Thomas Jefferson” provided a great flavor to the event. In the afternoon, The Rucker Family dedicated three historical signs telling the story about the James River Style Batteau invented by Benjamin and Anthony Rucker. Dr. Bill Trout, Holt Messerly and “Thomas Jefferson” were honored to unveil the three signs. This was a great day for Amherst County, the Commonwealth of Virginia and  The United States of America!
